Sock brand Stance has entered into a multi-year global partnership with North America’s Major League Baseball.
The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, names Stance the official sock of MLB. The partnership will begin with this year’s All-Star Game, which will take place at Petco Park in San Diego, California on July 12. Stance’s Fusion sock will form part of the official uniform during the game.
The two teams that will contest the All-Star Game – the National League and the American League – will be given bespoke sock designs, as will participants in the Home Run Derby event, which will take place on July 11.
After the All-Star Game, MLB teams will wear basic-striped or solid-coloured socks for the rest of the 2016 season. More designs will be introduced during the 2017 campaign. Stance will also develop its casual product line.
Noah Garden, MLB’s executive vice-president of business, said: “With Stance we have the unique opportunity to do something that’s very authentic to our sport in a way that’s extremely current. This deal will bring something fresh to our fans and our players through a product that still respects our roots.”
Stance also serves as the official sock of the NBA basketball league. Its partnership with MLB marks the league’s first sponsorship agreement with a sock brand.
