Spanish LaLiga football club RCD Espanyol has signed a kit sponsorship deal with SportyCo, a crowdfunding services provider targeted at the global sports industry.
The agreement will run until the end of the 2017-18 season. SportyCo’s branding will appear on the left sleeve of Espanyol’s shirts, as well as on the Barcelona-based team’s shorts.
SportyCo, which offers a blockchain-based platform, will also receive in-stadium exposure and promotion during television broadcasts of Espanyol’s matches.
The partnership began yesterday (Sunday) with Espanyol’s 1-1 draw against cross-city rival Barcelona.
SportyCo owner Marko Filej said: “We want to be present all over the planet and we consider that Espanyol is a globally recognised brand, so this sponsorship will help us to grow and be better known everywhere.”
Roberto Carlos, an ex-footballer for LaLiga team Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team, last month became SportyCo’s partnerships manager.
