Six state-owned enterprises have agreed deals to sponsor the 2018 edition of the Asian Games multi-sport event, which will take place in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta and Palembang.
The Games’ organising committee (INASGOC) has signed deals with PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, PT Telekomunikasi Seluler Indonesia, PT Bank Negara Indonesia, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia, PT Bank Mandiri and PT Pertamina.
The collective value of the six deals is Rp500bn (€31.1m/$36.8m), the INASGOC said.
The Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla said: “This is an important and noteworthy moment. With the involvement of these SOEs, any Indonesian athlete that becomes a champion and receives a medal… in the background there will be Indonesian brand logos, not foreign brands.”
INASGOC chairman Erick Thohir added: “We are grateful for the commitment of sponsorship given by six SOEs to support the 2018 Asian Games financing. Sponsorship is one of INASGOC’s four main revenue sources, in addition to sales of broadcast rights, ticket sales to venues and merchandising sales. Therefore, with this sponsorship cooperation I am sure the 2018 Asian Games will run successfully.”
The 2018 Games will run from August 18 to September 2.
