Spirits-focused investment management company Spirited Funds has entered into a partnership with US racetrack Churchill Downs.
The length of the company’s partnership with Churchill Downs, which stages the showpiece Kentucky Derby event every year, was not disclosed.
Under the agreement, US jockey and three-time Kentucky Derby winner Gary Stevens will serve as a brand ambassador for Spirited Funds.
The company has applied to the federal Securities and Exchange Commission for approval to market an investment product that its founder has described as “premier bourbon and whisky investible indices”. Spirited Funds hopes the venture will attract new investors to a sector that is valued at $300bn (€262bn).
The 2016 Kentucky Derby takes place tomorrow (Saturday).
