English county cricket club Somerset has agreed a five-year naming rights deal with financial advisory firm Cooper Associates for its County Ground home in Taunton.
Somerset has played at the 8,500-capacity venue since 1882 and it will now be known as the Cooper Associates County Ground under the agreement running from 2016 to 2020.
Cooper Associates has its head office situated in Taunton and the new agreement builds on existing ties between the two parties. Copper Associates sponsors England international and former Somerset wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler. In addition, Carl Gazzard, who played an integral part in Somerset’s T20 Cup triumph in 2005, is a member of their team, as is James Regan who joined the company after leaving the club last year.
Somerset’s chief executive Guy Lavender said: “This commercial partnership with Cooper Associates highlights our determination to develop excellent relationships with our local partners in order to build the financial strength of the club. This agreement is a key component of ensuring the long-term success of Somerset CCC both on and off the pitch.”
