Spanish Liga champion Atletico Madrid has entered into an innovative two-year partnership with Chinese football accessories company Sockatyes.
Sockatyes specialises in manufacturing products that allow for branding to appear on players’ socks and its deal with Atletico will open up a new advertising medium for the club.
The agreement with Atletico follows on from an initial partnership signed with the Spanish Football League (LFP) which was signed last month.
At the presentation of the deal today (Wednesday), the LFP’s chief executive of marketing and sales, Adolfo Bara, said Atletico will be the “flagship project” for Sockatyes at a national and international level.
Clemente Villaverde, Atletico Madrid’s managing director and board member, added: “This will allow us to increase our presence in many ways. This is within a global project that began with the (LFP’s) World Challenge last summer. This is a very important opportunity to expand. The agreement allows us to carry out advertising that was not done before. It is an important source of income.”
