The Singapore National Olympic Council has entered into a partnership with health club group Fitness First.
The company has agreed a three-year deal to become the SNOC’s official fitness partner until 2018. The period will cover next year’s Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games, as well as the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in 2018.
Fitness First will sponsor 200 Team Singapore athletes in a deal worth S$1.3m (€857,000/$914,000) in international memberships. Athletes will be granted access to the company’s hundreds of branches worldwide.
Fitness First will also support the development of athletes in the country by extending its backing to Singapore’s athletics, hockey, sailing and amateur boxing associations. In recent years, Fitness First has supported a range of TeamSG athletes, including the gold-medal winning netball team at this year’s SEA Games.
“With this partnership with the Singapore National Olympic Council, we are increasing our commitment to developing Singapore’s talent, as well as growing the nation’s fitness and sporting culture,” Simon Flint, Fitness First Asia chief executive, said.
The deal was brokered by the Enterprise Sports Group.
