British multi-purpose vehicle manufacturer Land Rover has signed a partnership with the South African Rugby Union (SARU), the governing body of rugby union in the country.
Under the agreement, Land Rover will become the official vehicle partner and associate sponsor of the governing body and its Springboks national team.
The deal includes Land Rover supporting the Springboks during its campaign at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. Players and SARU staff will receive official team vehicles for the tournament.
Richard Gouverneur, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa, said: “Land Rover has supported global rugby for more than two decades. Here, in South Africa, we are involved with local unions, clubs and schools to support development of the sport. By signing on as an associate sponsor and vehicle partner to the Springboks, we plan to drive those efforts even further, using the best ambassadors in the sport.”
