Morocco’s national carrier Royal Air Maroc has entered into a partnership with Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Santos.
RAM has signed an initial one-year deal to become the club’s official airline during the 2016 season. The agreement includes the option of a two-year extension.
As part of the deal, the airline’s logo will feature on the shoulders of the club’s playing shirts.
RAM’s branding featured on Santos’ shirts during the first leg of the club’s Copa do Brasil final against Palmeiras on November 25. The airline subsequently told Moroccan news agency MAP that it expected to announce a wider-ranging partnership with the club in due course. Both parties officially confirmed the deal on Friday.
“It’s a very important day for us,” Eduardo Rezende, marketing executive at Santos, said. “It (the deal) is the resumption of the internationalisation of the brand Santos FC, the best known football brand in the world. I’m sure the partnership will do very well for Santos and Royal Air Maroc. It is an example for the big brands in Brazil.”
