Samsung partners Sochi Winter Paralympic Games

CONSUMER ELECTRONICS brand Samsung has been named as a Worldwide Partner of the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games to be held in Sochi, Russia.

As a worldwide partner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Samsung has supported each Paralympic Games since the 2006 Winter Paralympic Games in Turin, Italy.

“Samsung’s leading technologies and sponsorship experience will help organisers stay connected, and enable athletes and spectators to share their impressive Paralympic Games stories with others across the world,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko, the president and chief executive of the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee.

Samsung first sponsored an Olympic Games in 1988 when Seoul was the host city, before becoming a Worldwide Partner in 1998 for the Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

The South Korean company also has agreements with several high-profile European football teams, including shirt sponsorship of English Premier League side Chelsea and lower tier partnerships with German Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich and Italian Serie A team Juventus.
