Russian Railways has today (Thursday) been unveiled as an official European supporter of this year’s Fifa World Cup national team football tournament, which will take place in its home country.
Russian Railways joins fellow domestic companies Alfa-Bank and telco Rostelecom as European supporters of the event, which is due to take place from June 14 to July 15. The company will be granted brand association rights for its region as part of the deal.
Russian Railways is set to provide a range of services for fans attending this year’s World Cup, with supporters having already booked half of the 440,000 seats available free of charge for ticket holders travelling between host cities. A total of 728 long-distance trips on 31 routes have been scheduled for the tournament.
The company will also oversee the 31 train stations located in all 11 host cities.
