Russian telco Rostelecom has been unveiled as a sponsor of this year’s Fifa World Cup national team football tournament.
Rostelecom will serve as a regional supporter of the event for Europe. The tournament is due to take place in Russia from June 14 to July 15.
Rostelecom will benefit from LED advertising exposure during the World Cup and be given the opportunity to run ticket raffles. The company will also be granted brand association rights for its region.
In addition, Rostelecom will offer its clients a package of benefits relating to the World Cup.
“We are very happy to add a market leader of the broadband and pay-TV markets in Russia to Fifa’s line-up of regional supporters,” Fifa’s chief commercial officer, Philippe Le Floc’h, said.
“Rostelecom and Fifa are both bringing people together – telecom companies connect people to their friends and to information, Fifa harnesses football as a common thread to connect the world.”
Yadea, a Chinese company which specialises in the production of electric-powered motorcycles, bicycles and scooters, was last month unveiled as a regional supporter of this year’s World Cup. Russia’s Alfa-Bank became the first company to be assigned the role in July 2016.
