Italian Serie A football club AS Roma has agreed partnerships with Swedish automotive manufacturer Volvo and transportation network Uber.
Volvo has signed a three-year deal to become the club’s official car partner. The two parties will work on a range of initiatives and promotions as part of the deal.
Under the agreement, Volvo Car Italia will make a fleet of 40 cars available to Roma for use in transporting players and officials, and assisting the day-to-day logistics of the clubs.
Volvo will also benefit from brand exposure at Roma’s Stadio Olimpico on match days.
Volvo Car Italia president Michele Crisci said: “Rome is one of the most important cities in the world, and so too Roma is one of the most important clubs in the world.
“The next three years will be an important one for the car industry. Volvo has announced that from 2019 all our new cars will have electric engines. Self-driving cars will be another growing technology – it will be interesting to see how this technically can be used in a great city like the Italian capital.
“We will take on these great changes alongside the Giallorossi.”
Uber, meanwhile, has agreed a deal to become Roma’s innovation and mobility partner. The deal runs until the end of the 2017-18 season and will seek to provide supporters with quick and easy travel solutions on match days.
The Uber app will indicate the closest pick-up locations near the Stadio Olimpico after matches. Supporters who use the ‘FORZAROMA’ promotional code will also receive a 20 per cent discount on all Uber rides to and from the stadium on match days.
In addition, special cards will advertise Roma matches on the Uber app, which will also provide a link to the club’s ticket office.
