River Plate seals Turkish Airlines deal

Argentinian Superliga football club River Plate has sealed a three-season contract for Turkish Airlines to become its new Main Sponsor.

The agreement, which runs from 2019-20 to 2021-22, was formally announced on Friday after being reported in local media earlier in the week.

The national flag carrier airline of Turkey debuted on River’s shirt for yesterday’s (Sunday’s) 3-0 Superliga win over Lanús.

As well as brand exposure on the front of River’s shirt and training kit, Turkish Airlines will be able to offer experiences such as meet and greets with players, visits to the club museum, tickets for home matches and activations in the Estadio Monumental.

The River brand will also be promoted across Turkish Airline’s global flight network. President of River Plate, Rodolfo D’Onofrio, said: “It is a very important commercial agreement for the institution and this alliance is the result of a global vision that will enhance the expansion of both brands.”

River had been seeking a main shirt sponsor since May 2018 and Turkish Airlines had originally been linked with a partnership.
