Virginia-based non-profit health organisation Inova has taken on naming rights to the Washington Redskins’ training facility after agreeing a multi-year strategic partnership with the NFL American football franchise.
The facility will be renamed the Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park.
Under the agreement, Inova’s network of hospitals, outpatient services, facilities, primary and specialty care practices will called upon to support the Redskins’ health and wellness platform, which was launched in 2014. The Redskins will also benefit from Inova’s own health and wellness initiatives, while community-based programmes such as base-line testing and breast cancer awareness campaigns will be launched.
The two parties will collaborate to produce health-related articles, videos and specialists for use in the Redskins’ annual health and wellness television show. A new weekly radio show named 'Ask the Doctor presented by Inova' will also be launched to provide information on the use of medicine within sport.
In addition, a new programme entitled 'Inova Sports Medicine-Redskins Medical Minute' will launch on the local ESPN980 radio station, while a range of podcasts and the ‘Find a Doctor’ programme will also be introduced. ‘Find a Doctor’ will help Redskins fans locate their local Inova doctor or service.
Terry Bateman, Redskins executive vice-president and chief marketing officer, said: “This partnership will benefit the community and uphold our commitment to have the healthiest fans in the NFL.”
