Insurance group QBE has signed on as the new title sponsor of the PGA Tour’s Shootout event, which takes place annually in the US state of Florida.
The multi-year agreement officially renames the team-based tournament as the QBE Shootout.
“In addition to the Shootout bringing together some of the world's best and most prominent names in golf, the tournament provides financial support for very worthwhile charities,” Russ Johnston, chief executive of QBE North America, said.
“Giving back to our communities is in our DNA, which is why the opportunity to sponsor the Shootout was very attractive to us. There's a very close alignment between the goals of the QBE Foundation and the philanthropic mission of Greg Norman's event."
The 2017 QBE Shootout will take place from December 6-10 at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida. This year’s event will consist of 24 players paired into 12 two-person teams. Harris English and Matt Kuchar (pictured) won the 2016 event.
QBE replaces US investment firm Franklin Templeton as title sponsor. The latter has served as title sponsor for 20 of the Shootout’s 28 years and will remain involved as a partner.
