German sportswear brand Puma has entered into a kit supplier partnership with German Bundesliga football club Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The multi-year deal will come into effect from July 1, 2018. Puma will replace Italian sportswear brand Kappa as Borussia’s official technical supplier.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but the Rheinische Post newspaper said the deal would be worth around €10m ($10.7m) per season. The newspaper also reported that the deal would run for six years, with the option of an extra two seasons.
Puma will supply Borussia’s first team and youth sides with jerseys, training clothes and accessories as part of the agreement. Puma will also serve as the club’s official partner for replica jerseys and merchandise ranges.
The partnership marks Puma’s return to Borussia, with the company having provided the club’s kit from 1976 to 1992. The new partnership will run under the slogan, ‘What belongs together comes together’.
“We are pleased that we were able to bolster our portfolio by adding one of the most traditional and successful clubs in the German Bundesliga,” Matthias Bäumer, area general manager for Puma Dach, said. “Our partnership with Borussia Mönchengladbach will not only strengthen our position as one of the leading football brands in Germany, it will also help us to expand our … business with our trade partners. Puma and Borussia Mönchengladbach: this partnership stands for years of success and is a story that we will continue in a creative and passionate way.”
Puma also supplies kit for Monchengladbach’s Bundesliga rival, Borussia Dortmund.
