Oil and gas exploration and development company Oil Search has agreed a deal to sponsor this year’s Rugby League World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
The Papua New Guinea-based company will serve as an official platinum partner of the tournament, which runs from October 27 to December 2.
Oil Search will benefit from in-stadia brand exposure and will also support the World Cup Trophy Tour and a community programme in its home country.
The National Football Stadium in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, will host the country’s three group-stage games. Papua New Guinea kicks off its campaign against Wales on October 28 and will also face Ireland and the US in the group stages.
