US golf equipment manufacturer Ping has agreed a deal to become the official apparel supplier of the 2019 edition of the Solheim Cup women’s team event.
Ping will provide volunteers, staff and officials with clothing and uniforms during the event, which will be held at Gleneagles in Scotland from September 9-15 next year.
Ping will also sponsor and exclusively supply products for the Ping Golf Zone at Gleneagles’ spectator village.
Karsten Solheim, who died in 2000, founded both Ping and the Solheim Cup. Ping was an existing sponsor of the tournament, but it has now stepped up to become an apparel supplier for the biennial event, which is contested by representative teams from the US and Europe.
John Clark, managing director of Ping Europe, said: “Adding official apparel to our sponsorship contribution is a natural extension of all we do in women’s golf. We are wholeheartedly committed to the Solheim Cup and we are delighted to use the event to showcase the superb range of clothing that Ping now provides.”
Team USA won the most recent Solheim Cup last year, defeating Team Europe 16.5-11.5 at Iowa’s Des Moines Golf and Country Club.
