The Philadelphia 76ers US NBA basketball franchise has entered into a partnership with local medical facilities the Rothman Institute and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Under the deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, both facilities will play a role in the players’ medical and health care.
The Rothman Institute will become the team’s official orthopaedics and urgent care facility while Thomas Jefferson University Hospital will serve as the official hospital of the 76ers.
The partnership will include the team’s new ‘Tagboard’ feature, which allows fans at 76ers home games to use the #SixersLIVE hashtag in posts on social media to contribute to the game in-arena by showcasing photos and comments on the team’s video boards.
The Rothman Institute will also serve as a presenting partner of the franchise’s Youth Athletic programme, which covers all youth basketball games played during the pre-game and half-time periods of 76ers home games.
Participants in these games will receive co-branded 76ers and Rothman Institute drawstring bags during the 2014-15 season.
In addition, the Rothman Institute will present the franchise’s long-standing Sixers Camps programme, which hosts basketball and dance camps in the summer and an annual Holiday Hoops programme in December for children in Philadelphia.
