Peruvian Primera Division football club Universitario has agreed a two-year shirt sponsorship deal with the Backus & Johnston brewery to promote its Cristal beer brand.
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, although the Depor.pe website reported Backus will pay Universitario $1.2m (€950,000) per year.
The sponsorship is effective from January 2015, when Cristal will replace shopping complex Plaza Norte on the front of Universitario’s shirts.
Lima-based Universitario is the reigning champion of Peru having won its 26th title last year.
