US multinational food and beverage corporation PepsiCo has expanded its partnership with the Golden State Warriors to include sponsorship of Chase Center, the future home of the NBA basketball team.
PepsiCo’s new multi-year deal with the Warriors names the company as a founding partner of the arena, which is currently being built in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighbourhood.
PepsiCo will also serve as the exclusive snacks and non-alcoholic beverage provider for the Warriors.
Chase Center is due to open in 2019. The Warriors currently play at Oracle Arena and PepsiCo will retain selling, dispensing and serving rights of its food and beverage brands during the team’s final two seasons at the venue.
PepsiCo will also receive marketing rights such as mobile, television and digital assets, as well as local media and retail promotional opportunities. These exclusive rights will be afforded at Chase Center.
Rick Welts, president and chief operating officer of the Warriors, said: “PepsiCo has been a great partner to the Warriors over the years and we’re excited to grow our partnership and expand it to include the nearly 200 annual events we will hold at Chase Center and a variety of events throughout the entire district.
“For our founding partnerships, we are looking for brands and companies that are innovative and truly understand the sports and entertainment world, providing our fans with the best fan experience possible. PepsiCo’s unique understanding of sports and entertainment, combined with its array of popular food and beverage products that align with consumer trends, makes this collaboration an important part of our future success.”
PepsiCo is also an official partner of the NBA. Its new deal with the Warriors builds on an existing agreement between the team and its Gatorade isotonic sports drink brand.
PepsiCo joins Accenture and United Airlines as founding partners of Chase Center.
