The New Orleans Pelicans NBA basketball team has signed a jersey sponsorship deal with local food brand Zatarain’s.
Starting with the 2017-18 season, the company’s branding will feature on the chest area of the team’s jerseys.
Zatarain’s will also donate meals to the Second Harvest Food Bank charity for every Pelicans slam dunk made throughout the season.
As part of the agreement, Zatarain’s will be integrated into the Pelicans' retail marketing and the company will also be promoted across the team’s app, social channels and official website. Further in-arena promotion will also be provided.
The NBA announced in April 2016 that teams would be permitted to agree jersey sponsorship deals as part of a three-year pilot programme spanning the 2017-18 to 2019-20 seasons. The Pelicans are the 18th team to have agreed such a deal.
