Sports equipment manufacturer Scott Sports has signed on as a co-naming rights sponsor of Australian UCI WorldTour cycling team Orica-BikeExchange.
Under the agreement, the team will become known as Orica-Scott from 2017. The deal also covers the Orica-AIS women’s team, marking the first time that both the men’s and women’s squads have shared the same name.
The length of the agreement was not disclosed, although the Herald Sun newspaper reported that the deal would run for three years, from 2017 to 2019.
The team will benefit from Scott Sports’ Foil, Addict and Solace bike range, and will also receive access to the full Scott Sports group, including bicycle components brand Syncros.
Scott Sports, which has served as the team’s official bike sponsor since 2012, will replace online cycling marketplace BikeExchange as the outfit’s secondary title sponsor. BikeExchange signed a short-term agreement with the team in June ahead of the start of the Tour de France.
The 2017 season will also mark Orica’s last as co-title sponsor. The explosives and mining chemicals company first struck a partnership with the team in 2012.
