US computer technology firm Oracle has been appointed as a technical sponsor of biennial multi-sport event the Winter Universiade, which takes place next month in Italy.
The organisers of the event, which will be hosted in Trentino from December 11-21, will rely on cloud applications provided by Oracle to support its communication activities on social media sites Facebook and Twitter and video sharing website YouTube.
Oracle Social Cloud offers a unified social media management platform providing listening, publishing, engagement, analytics, multi-lingual and content creation capabilities through a single interface and will be used to monitor social network interactions around the 26th Winter Universiade.
The competition’s organising committee has overseen a technical collaboration between Oracle and digital agency Real Web, which will gain access to the unified cloud platform for the complete management of the event’s social initiatives.
More than 3,600 young athletes from 61 nations are expected to participate in the 2013 Universiade, contesting 78 gold medals.
