Greek Superleague football club Olympiacos has launched a two-year partnership with global children’s charity Unicef.
The tie-up will raise funds and awareness in Greece and across the world for Unicef’s ‘100% Campaign’, which aims to immunise children not currently reached by vaccination programmes.
One-and-a-half million children around the world currently die every year from diseases that are preventable by vaccinations and nearly 20 per cent of all children do not receive basic vaccinations due to poverty, conflict and governmental and infrastructural problems.
The 100% Campaign is seeking to address this situation and reigning Superleague champion Olympiacos is lending its support by sporting Unicef’s logo on its kit for the next two years, during which time it is aiming to raise €2m ($2.7m) for the campaign.
