Australian rugby union team New South Wales Waratahs has continued its commercial drive on the eve of the new Super Rugby season by signing a shirt sponsorship agreement with Irish cider brand Magners.
Under the deal, the terms of which were undisclosed, Magners becomes the official cider of NSW Waratahs and its branding will feature on the sleeve of the team’s jersey.
Additionally, Magners will benefit from extensive visibility and customer interaction through the Waratahs. Details of a grassroots rugby collaboration between the two partners will be revealed in due course.
Last week, global online trading company CMC Markets took the sponsorship slot on the lower back of the Waratahs shirt, while real estate agent Ray White secured the upper-back branding. Car company Volvo is the Waratah’s principle sponsor – including front-of-shirt branding – under a two-year deal.
NSW Waratahs begins its 2014 Super Rugby campaign against Western Force at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on February 23.
