Brazilian football club Vasco da Gama has announced a sponsorship deal with car manufacturer Nissan.
The agreement will run for four years, from 2013-14 to 2016-17.
The company’s logo will be displayed on a slot on the upper back of the team’s shirts as well as the playing shorts. There will also be Nissan branding on all official training kits and reserve team shirts, as well as the club’s official website, social networks and three sides of Vasco’s stadium.
“This contract is very significant for our management team as we had to work hard to put Vasco on course,” the club’s president, Roberto Dinamite, said.
Nissan Brazil president François Dossa explained that the deal with Vasco will coincide with an anticipated expansion of the company’s operations in Brazil.
“Nissan is growing in the country with the construction of a new plant in the state of Rio de Janeiro, and we want to achieve a five-per-cent market share by 2016,” he said.
