Superannuation fund Mine Wealth + Wellbeing (Mine Super) has stepped up its backing of the Newcastle Knights by becoming a kit sponsor of the Australian NRL rugby league club.
Mine Super’s logo will feature on the Knights’ playing shorts during the 2018 season as part of the new agreement. The company has been a partner of the team for the past four seasons, serving as its first choice superannuation fund.
The deal completes the Knights’ kit sponsorship for the new season, which gets underway next week. According to the Newcastle Herald newspaper, the Knights’ kit will be worth A$5.7m (€3.6m/$4.5m) this year, which would rank it among the top three or four clubs in the league.
The Herald also noted that the Mine Super deal means that every available advertising spot on the club’s kit has been sold for the first time in its 31-year history.
“This partnership will allow us to showcase the great service we offer to members each and every day as well as build awareness of how we can help people achieve exceptional retirement outcomes,” Mine Super chief executive Harry Mitchell said.
“The position on the kit is visible recognition of the importance we place in being part of the community both here in Newcastle but also across the eastern seaboard, where a majority of the NRL teams compete.”
