The Virgin Australia airline has struck an agreement with the Australian National Basketball League (NBL).
The deal will run for the duration of the 2015-16 season, with Virgin Australia serving as the NBL’s designated official airline partner.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
“The NBL also has a great regional reach with teams in Cairns, Townsville and Illawarra, with the potential to expand into other growing regional markets,” NBL general manager Jeremy Loeliger said.
“Virgin Australia has a significant presence in many of our current and target markets and together we can offer regional Australia some fantastic exposure, including working jointly with tourism authorities in regional markets to promote basketball as a leading sports tourism product.”
