Locally-based financial technology company National Funding has been named the title sponsor of this year’s edition of college American football game the Holiday Bowl.
The game will take place on December 30 between the USC Trojans and the Wisconsin Badgers at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. It will take on the official title of the National Funding Holiday Bowl. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Organisers of the Holiday Bowl had readied themselves for a sponsor-free game this year but National Funding has stepped in less than two weeks before the event takes place. The company has only agreed to a one-year deal and organisers remain on the lookout for a more long-term partner.
Mark Neville, executive director of the San Diego Bowl Game Association, told the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper: “I can’t tell you how appreciative we are. For somebody who really is in this for the spirit of the community and the bowl games is tremendous.
“We continue be in discussions for a long-term partner. We’re looking for that right partner, and it hasn’t come along just yet. This helps us in a huge way.”
