Indian conglomerate Tata has been named as the new title sponsor of the Mumbai Marathon.
The agreement begins with the 2018 edition of the event, which will take place on January 21 and will officially be known as the Tata Mumbai Marathon. The 10-year deal will run until the 2027 edition.
The race will be jointly sponsored by the Tata group and Tata Consultancy Services, a leading IT, business solutions and consulting organisation.
Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said: “Partnering with India's premier long-distance running event is a great way for the Tata group to increase our engagement with the community, raise funds for charity as well as create societal awareness about the necessity of good health and fitness.”
The Mumbai Marathon claims to be the largest marathon event in Asia.
