Australian A-League football club Melbourne City has agreed a shirt sponsorship deal with meat foods producer DON Smallgoods.
The three-year deal, which names DON Smallgoods as a major partner of the club, will cover the 2016-17 to 2018-19 seasons.
Under the agreement, DON Smallgoods’ branding will feature on the right-hand sleeve of Melbourne City’s home jerseys. Its logo will occupy the same space on the home kits of the club’s W-League women’s team.
Abu Dhabi-based airline Etihad Airways is Melbourne City's main shirt sponsor, while Japanese automotive manufacturer Nissan’s branding will occupy the left-hand sleeve spot during the upcoming season.
Paul Mealor, managing director of DON Smallgoods, said: “DON is proud of its Melbourne heritage and past association with sport in Victoria. As football continues to maintain its position as the most popular sport in the country, with growing participation rates across both males and females, it’s timely to be formalising a union that’s been in the making for some time.”
Melbourne City begins the 2016-17 campaign with an away game at Brisbane Roar on October 7.
