Sports-related injury centre Healthpoint has agreed a three-year deal with Manchester City to become the English Premier League champion’s regional healthcare partner in the United Arab Emirates.
Healthpoint is a company of Abu Dhabi’s state strategic investor Mubadala and specialises in orthopaedic care. It did not disclose the financial terms of the partnership.
Under the agreement, Healthpoint and Manchester City medical staff will work together to co-host seminars and share best practices for treating athletes in sports medicine. An annual internship will be offered to a Healthpoint sports medicine professional to train alongside City’s medical team in Manchester. The partnership will also include commercial rights.
Healthpoint board member Dr Ihsan Al Marzouqi said: "The collaboration between Healthpoint and Manchester City is exemplary of our strategy to partner with top international organisations to address local healthcare needs and bolster local capacity. We are delighted to partner with the medical team at Manchester City to further address the need for world-class orthopedic, spine and sports medicine care in the UAE."
In June this year, Manchester signed a three-year agreement to make PruHealth, PruProtect and their parent company Discovery its official health, wellness and life insurance partners in the UK and South Africa.
Since September 2008, City has been owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group, a UAE private investment company fronted by Abu Dhabi royal family member Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
