Belgian First Division A club RSC Anderlecht has launched a new naming rights deal with Lotto, Belgium’s national lottery.
Under the deal, RSC Anderlecht’s stadium will be renamed as Lotto Park for at least the next four seasons, from 2019-20 to 2022-23.
Lotto signed a five-year deal as one of RSC Anderlecht’s main sponsors last season, and has now purchased the naming rights for the duration of its original sponsorship deal.
Jo Van Biesbroeck, chief executive of RSC Anderlecht, said the timing of the naming rights deal coincides with other new beginnings at the club, including the return of former player Vincent Kompany – who captained Manchester City’s Premier League-winning side last season – as manager.
David Steegen, public affairs manager at RSC Anderlecht, said: “In principle, Lotto was able to highlight the stadium name option earlier. But Lotto has taken into account the feelings of the supporters, who were very negative last season.
“It was better to launch Lotto Park as a fresh start, with Vincent Kompany.”
Lotto’s signage around the stadium will be branded as white on purple, like RSC Anderlecht’s home strip.
