Newly-formed English Superleague netball club Wasps has entered into a partnership with British automotive manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover.
The multi-year deal names Jaguar Land Rover as Wasps’ main partner, with its branding to feature on the team’s new kit.
The Coventry-based team was formed in June and is being backed by Premiership rugby union club Wasps. The upcoming Superleague season will mark its debut in the competition.
The team has also agreed sponsorship deals with the University of Warwick and packaging and recycling company DS Smith, an existing partner of Wasps Rugby along with Jaguar Land Rover. Both the university and DS Smith will feature on the team’s new kit.
“Jaguar Land Rover will be one of the biggest club partners in the Superleague and we hope that working alongside businesses such as theirs we can really raise the profile of netball in the UK,” David Armstrong, group chief executive of Wasps, said.
“We’re also grateful to the University of Warwick for becoming our official training base and providing top-class facilities to the team. We are trying to build a winning club here and having these great companies supporting us in a variety of ways is crucial to achieving that – ensuring a bright future for Wasps Netball.”
The Wasps will wear the new kit for the first time on February 21 when taking on the Scottish Sirens at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena. The Wasps and Sirens are two of three new franchises set to make their Superleague debuts this season, along with the Severn Stars, which are being operated by the University of Gloucester and Worcester University.
