British multi-purpose vehicle manufacturer Land Rover has extended its partnership with South African rugby union team Western Province, through which it will continue to sponsor the Stormers Super Rugby franchise.
The new two-year deal will run until 2019 and will continue to grant Land Rover brand exposure on the Stormers’ kit.
Selected Stormers and Western Province players have also been chosen as Land Rover Rugby ambassadors as part of the agreement. Ambassadors will host clinics at rural schools as part of the Rugby Goes Rural initiative.
“Around the world, Land Rover is involved in rugby on every level – from amateur clubs and schools, all the way to the pinnacle of the sport, the Rugby World Cup,” said Lisa Mallett, marketing director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa.
“And through our association with Western Province Rugby and the Land Rover Rugby ambassadors we’re building an excellent platform to support and develop rugby in South Africa.”
Land Rover first partnered with the club in 2014.
