British multi-purpose vehicle manufacturer Land Rover has renewed its partnership with the British & Irish Lions rugby union team.
Land Rover will serve as a principal partner and the official vehicle partner of the team on its tour of New Zealand in 2017.
Under the agreement, Land Rover will provide vehicles to support the team’s operations both back home and in New Zealand.
Land Rover joins Standard Life Investments, Canterbury and QBE as principal partners of the Lions’ New Zealand tour. The company also supported the team’s tours of South Africa in 1997, New Zealand in 2005 and Australia in 2013.
British & Irish Lions chief operating officer Charlie McEwen said: “Land Rover has a rich history of supporting rugby and in particular the Lions. By its very nature, a Lions tour needs the support of partners who can meet the challenges posed. As such, Land Rover’s experience is going to be invaluable.”
The Lions’ New Zealand tour will begin with a game against a Provincial Union XV on June 3, 2017.
