JTBC secures naming rights to LPGA’s Founders Cup

The Ladies Professional Golf Association has reached an agreement for South Korean media company JTBC to become the title sponsor of its Founders Cup tournament.

Staged from March 20-23 in Phoenix, Arizona, the JTBC Founders Cup is the first LPGA event on US soil in 2014.

As part of the sponsorship, JTBC has extended invitations to 2005 US Women’s Open champion Birdie Kim and Arizona native Cheyenne Woods, who is Tiger Woods’ niece. Kim and Woods are members of the Symetra Tour – the official qualifying tour of the LPGA.

The deal with JTBC comes on the back of the LPGA extending its multi-year agreement with exclusive Korean broadcast partner J Golf.

JTBC is a broadcast affiliate of J Golf and will become the presenting sponsor at three further LPGA Tour events in 2014, namely the North Texas LPGA Shootout, Kingsmill Championship and the Airbus LPGA Classic.
