Golf’s PGA Tour has announced a two-year extension to its deal with Hyundai for the automotive manufacturer to retain the title sponsorship of the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii through the 2014-15 season.
Seoul Broadcasting System, a broadcast partner of the PGA Tour, served as the title sponsor of the event for one year before bringing in its fellow Korean firm for 2011.
Hyundai will continue the Tournament of Champions’ tradition of charitable giving, with host organisations donating more than $4.4m (€3.3m) to the Maui community since 1999.
As in its previous three years as title sponsor, Hyundai’s non-profit Hyundai Hope on Wheels initiative will be active at the event.
The 2014 edition of the tournament takes place from January 3-6 at the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Maui and will mark the PGA Tour’s January resumption from its one-and-a-half month break. US Ryder Cup star Dustin Johnson is the defending champion.
