French Ligue 1 football club Olympique Lyonnais has struck a two-season extension to its shirt sponsorship deal with Korean automotive manufacturer Hyundai.
The new contract will cover the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, with Hyundai having partnered with Lyon since 2012.
Hyundai serves as Lyon’s main shirt sponsor and one of three top-tier premium partners alongside Adidas and Veolia. For the first time, the new agreement will extend Hyundai’s backing to Lyon’s hugely successful women’s team.
Under the agreement, activations such as #ShareHyundai – a carpooling scheme for fans – and the #HyundaiExperience – which showcases the company’s models within Lyon’s Groupama Stadium – are set to continue.
The two parties have also introduced three new activations for this season, including Car Wash Hyundai, through which any 20 vehicles from the stadium car park are selected to be cleaned during games.
“These six years of partnership with Lyon have anchored Hyundai as a major player in football in France,” Lionel Keogh, director general of Hyundai Motor France, said.
“With the renewal of the contract and its extension to the women's team for the next two years, we will develop our reputation in France and share the passion of football with our employees and our customers all over France.”
