Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has secured a title sponsorship agreement with the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament.
The deal covers the forthcoming 2015 season of the CPL. Financial terms for the one-year partnership were not disclosed.
Hero has an established presence in the CPL as the presenting sponsor of defending champion Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Zouks – the latter playing squad will feature former England international Kevin Pietersen (pictured) – while it was a global partner of the 2007 Cricket World Cup in West Indies.
“As Hero rapidly expands its global footprint, we have been forging strong associations with sporting icons and events as part of our global brand building initiatives,” Pawan Munjal, the chairman, managing director and chief executive at Hero MotoCorp, said.
“Caribbean cricket and cricketers have always been highly popular in India and in many other parts of the world, and our title sponsorship of the CPL is a logical extension of our long-term association with the game.”
