Nutrition supplements company Herbalife has agreed a sponsorship deal with the Copa do Brasil domestic club football knockout competition.
Herbalife will benefit from branding displays on LED boards and promotional films on stadium screens during matches, while it will receive a quota of tickets and engage in a variety of associated promotional activities. Financial terms and the length of the deal were not disclosed.
Herbalife is a sponsor of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, but this latest deal provides a welcome boost to its presence in domestic Brazilian football after its link with Rio-based Brasileiro Serie A club Botafogo expired at the end of last year.
In other news, it has been confirmed that the 86-year-old club will be known as the Copa Sadia do Brasil for the 2014 edition. Sadia replaces sister brand Perdigao as title sponsor of the tournament, with parent company Brasil Foods already a partner of the competition. Brasil Foods is also a partner of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Other sponsors of the Copa include global credit card company Visa, telecommunications firm Claro and oil company Petrobras.
