Gold Coast 2018 signs latest top-tier partner

Local education and training facility TAFE Queensland has signed up as the latest top-tier partner of the 2018 Commonwealth Games multi-sport event in Gold Coast, Australia.

TAFE Queensland has been named the official training partner of the event and becomes the third official partner of the Games.

Under the agreement, TAFE Queensland will train up to 15,000 volunteers to ensure they are given the necessary skills to be ‘Games-ready’. Students currently enrolled on TAFE’s scheme will be given the opportunity to volunteer at the Games once the recruitment process launches.

Commonwealth Games Minister Stirling Hinchcliffe said: “Volunteers are the lifeblood of major events and they are crucial to the successful staging of the Games, which is why it is so important they are skilled up and well prepared to support the successful delivering of an event of this scale.”

TAFE Queensland joins Australian educational establishment Griffith University and the Jupiters Hotel and Casino development as top-tier partners of the Games, which will take place from April 4-14, 2018.
