The German Volleyball Federation (DVV) has named financial services company Comdirect as a main sponsor of the body.
Comdirect will also serve as an innovation partner of the DVV as part of the deal, which will run for three years.
Comdirect becomes a joint main sponsor of Germany’s beach volleyball national teams, whose apparel will now feature the company’s branding.
Comdirect will also be promoted across the Techniker Beach Tour, the German Beach-Volleyballserie, the DVV-Pokalfinale and selected international matches. Other sponsorship rights will also be granted.
Comdirect chief executive Arno Walter said: “This sport fits perfectly for us. We want to use our digital expertise to further develop German volleyball together with the athletes and the association.”
Germany won the gold medal in women’s beach volleyball at the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, with Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst (pictured) defeating Ágatha Bednarczuk and Bárbara Seixas of host nation Brazil in the final of the competition.
