The International University Sports Federation (Fisu) has entered into a partnership with Russian transportation firm the United Transport and Forwarding Company (Oteko).
The company has signed a four-year commercial partnership with Fisu through its subsidiary CJSC Tamanneftegaz. The agreement will run until the end of 2019.
“The number of events Fisu owns makes it a powerful sports brand and it also has the wider ambition of spreading the university spirit, which we really support,” Oteko general director Sergey Gubinets said. “Our four-year deal will cover the period of four Universiades in important territories for us, such as Asia and CIS countries.”
The 2017 summer and winter Universiades will be staged in Taipei, Taiwan and Almaty, Kazakhstan respectively. Naples in Italy is currently the only candidate to host the 2019 summer edition, while the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk will stage the winter version in the same year.
In 2016, Fisu is staging 34 World University Championships across five continents, the first of which, in ski orienteering, was held from February 10-16 in Tula, Russia.
