Global logistics company FedEx has enhanced its partnership with the Memphis Grizzlies by becoming the jersey sponsor of the NBA basketball team.
FedEx becomes the Grizzlies’ first-ever jersey sponsor and its logo will form part of a redesigned team kit and brand identity during the 2018-19 NBA season. The length of the multi-year agreement was not disclosed.
The company, which is headquartered in Memphis, already holds naming rights to the Grizzlies’ home arena, FedExForum.
David Bronczek, president and chief operating officer of FedEx Corp, said: “Placing the iconic FedEx logo on the players’ jerseys provides another unique way for our brand to reach new audiences around the globe while strengthening our connection to the Grizzlies and the Memphis community.”
The Grizzlies become the 22nd NBA team to sign a jersey sponsor. The NBA announced in April 2016 that teams would be permitted to agree such deals as part of a three-year pilot programme spanning the 2017-18 to 2019-20 seasons.
