FC Goa has announced Videocon D2H as its principal sponsor ahead of the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League football competition, while the team has also confirmed Indian cricket star Virat Kohli as a co-owner.
Videocon’s sponsorship was announced as FC Goa launched its Adidas-manufactured kit for the ISL. The terms of the agreement with the Indian pay-television provider were not disclosed.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kohli (pictured) said: “Some might say that I’m a bit young to take this on, but I love football and really want to see it grow in India.”
Kohli joins Shrinivas Dempo and Dattaraj Salgaocar as an FC Goa owner.
Goa, managed by former Brazil international Zico and featuring ex-France and Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires as its marquee player, begins its ISL campaign at home to Chennaiyin FC on October 16.
