Etixx takes on title sponsor rights at Omega Pharma Quick-Step

UCI World Tour cycling team Omega Pharma Quick-Step has sealed a two-year extension to its title sponsorship agreement that will see it take on a new name from the 2015 season.

Etixx, the sports nutrition brand of healthcare group Omega Pharma, will take on its parent company’s co-naming sponsor designation from next season through 2017.

In 2015, the Belgian team will be known as Etixx Quick-Step, with the latter flooring company having agreed to continue as a main sponsor through 2015 with an option to extend.

The agreement marks a second major sports sponsorship in recent months for Etixx. In June, it secured the front-of-shirt branding space with French Ligue 1 football team Lille.

“Etixx is a Belgian brand and we've become a market leader there in just a few years,” Omega Pharma chief executive Marc Coucke said. “We now want to internationalise it through investing in a cycling team to promote the maturity of the brand, to launch it everywhere in the world. Thanks to this continuity, the riders will also feel a sense of security and we can really build in future years.”

Additionally, Latexco continues its sponsorship for 2015 with the UCI World Tour outfit and Renson extends its support for two years through 2016, with an option for 2017.

Omega Pharma Quick-Step rider Michal Kwiatkowski is the team’s leading rider in the ongoing Tour de France, placed 16th in the general classification and third in the overall young rider classification.
