Espanyol nets maiden stadium naming deal with Power8

Gaming technology provider Power8 has agreed a seven-year stadium naming rights deal with Spanish Liga football team Espanyol.

Power8 becomes a top tier partner under the deal, which means the Estadi Cornella-El Prat becomes officially renamed as Power8 Stadium from the 2014-15 season.

The company will enjoy a range of commercial assets in association with Espanyol, including prominent branding throughout the Barcelona club’s home ground. Power8 is the first naming partner at the stadium, which opened in 2009.

Espanyol president Joan Collet told the team’s official television station that bringing in a title sponsor was one of the main objectives of its business strategy and the business development of the facility. Alongside Espanyol matches, the Power8 Stadium hosts more than 100 corporate events annually.

The agreement is Power8’s most significant football sponsorship deal to date after it partnered with Everton and Fulham during last season’s English Premier League campaign.
